Deep within every man there is an urge. In some men this exists at or
just below the surface, in other it only appears on rare occasions, but
nevertheless, the urge remains. We can't deny it, it is a part of us.
I speak of course of the inherent need to use power tools. Whether you
call it the Red Green mentality or the Tim Allen syndrome, the fact remains
that guys like equipment that uses external power sources and hopefully
makes entirely too much noise. I'm not going to try to explain this. And
I don't think there's a need to explain it, really. Guys like power tools.
It's that simple.
The problem with a latent desire to use power tools is that
it can suddenly arise and take hold of you without warning. This evening
I had a sudden desire to fix a door. Now normally fixing a door is a good
thing, in particular when the door needs to me fixed. Thing is, I decided
to fix the door at around 11 PM. Drills are wonderful, wonderful things,
but not at 11 PM when other people in the house want to sleep. You'd think
fixing the door would be more appreciated, and not get me yelled at. Oh
well, at least the door closes properly now. |
